It’s all fun and games.
After weeks of blogging about new and established conventions, new friendships and joyful reunions, building new bridges and revisiting trusted paths, and rekindling a light in my heart I thought extinguished, I feel like ending this week’s blog by talking about professional wrestling and video games. Let’s lighten up a bit.
As of this writing my wife and I have just finished watching Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura on NXT, followed by the impressive debut of the Cruiserweight Classic. It is a fascinating time to be a pro-wrestling fan. The spotlight that has been turned on the independent and international wrestling scene has forced mainstream wrestling to either up their game or downright recruit those very same independent and international stars. What had been a niche interest is now the standard, and it’s great seeing these men and women transform the scene. Also, holy crap Balor vs. Nakamura was intense. I can’t wait to see where the Cruiserweight Classic goes from here… though I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Drew Gulak. He wrestles for CHIKARA, my favorite wrestling promotion, and I want to see them get the acclaim they deserve.
It seems like everyone on the planet is playing Pokemon Go. My wife even gave it a try. Me? I’ve never been much into it so I’ll be sitting this one out. As for the mobile game I am playing nowadays, I’ve fallen into the grip of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, which is a collection game of its own, in a way. For a free phone game it plays remarkably like the Final Fantasy titles I grew up with, and the chance to unlock beloved characters from past games has me rather excited. Now both my wife and I are hooked on this addictive little game that feeds our nostalgia needs. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get my hands on more characters from my favorite games: Final Fantasy 4, 6, and 9.
I’m not much of a PC gamer, but since No Man’s Sky won’t be available on XBox One it looks like I’ll be playing it on my laptop. I am so freaking excited for it. Space!
