Here be dragons.

Tomorrow morning I hop on a plane to fly down to DragonCon in Atlanta.  This is the biggest, craziest show we do on our annual convention tour and we are thrilled to be exhibiting there for the third consecutive year.  There are many things I love about DragonCon, and many reasons this year will be different from previous years.

Experience.  The first time we exhibited at DragonCon we were a little overwhelmed by the size of the crowd and its hunger for merchandise.  We were a little under-prepared but nonetheless had a great time.  Last year we knew what to expect but had to be reminded about which days were the best sales days, since DragonCon is a four-day show as opposed to the three-day shows we normally do.  This year, I think we’ve experienced the ebb and flow of DragonCon enough to have few surprises.  At least I think so.

My mood.  I was in a good mood our first year of DragonCon, albeit a little overwhelmed (but in the best ways).  Last year I was in the worst headspace I’ve been in years.  I had a brutally bad falling out with some very close friends last year and the sting of it was still fresh when it came time for DragonCon.  There were times when I was barely there.  Garth had to snap me out of more than a few glassy-eyed stares as I sank into a clawing depression, and I retreated into my headphones to-and-from the convention, barely saying a word to anyone.  Going into DragonCon this weekend I’m in better spirits, and thanks to my dedication to bettering myself physically I feel more lively than I ever have.  This is going to be a good weekend because I choose it to be.

Star Power.  Our first storyline was incomplete our first year of DragonCon, but we garnered a fair amount of interest.  Last year STAR POWER & THE NINTH WORMHOLE was in book form, and it received a great amount of interest.  Now with STAR POWER & THE SEARCH FOR BLACK HOLE BILL also in print, we’re showing that we’re serious about our sci-fi superhero space adventure and plan to keep this momentum going.  It’s going to be an exciting weekend for our Star Powered Sentinel.

If you’ve never been to DragonCon, I highly recommend it.  It’s an insane and insanely fun weekend.
