Guess Who Got Sick Again!
If you read the title of today’s blog and guessed it was my son, you’re right! The little guy has the flu! Again!
And that means he’s out of preschool for the rest of the week!
Which means I’ve been spending days I could be working looking after and entertaining a four-year-old who swings back and forth from miserable to normal!
I’m trying to speak with as much excitement about this as possible because it’s been a long week already and adding “enthusiasm” helps me deal with, well, everything that comes with dealing with a sick child.
The whining misery of a sick kid who’s not used to being sick isn’t a burden for me, though. It breaks my heart to see the little man suffering through a fever and struggling to sit upright. So I don’t see his flu as a burden or an annoyance. It’s an enemy to be defeated, though it puts up one hell of a fight. It’s so crafty that I’m pretty sure it’s called in reinforcements to plan an assault on me. As I write this, I can feel a tickling soreness in the back of my throat. But I’ve got a counter-attack of my own: a constant stream of orange juice. Take that!
So if you’ve contacted me recently and are waiting for a response, or if I’m a little slower to meet some of my usual deadlines, it’s because I’ve had my hands full with a sick child since Monday. With luck, a battle plan, and medication, we’ll have this enemy conquered by the weekend.
