Another amazing A-Kon.
Garth and I had an amazing time at A-KON this past weekend. I’ve been attending that show since 2007, and this was Garth’s second time making an appearance. Every single year, it’s one of the most memorable experiences of my annual “convention tour.” From the friendliness of the people who say hi to us to the incomparable energy we’re given from those who attend our panels, A-KON remains one of the highlights of my year. I can’t thank you all enough for making Garth and I feel so welcome. We hope to make it back next year.
We did two solo panels. Garth did a Digital Illustration 101 presentation and I gave my Writing Unique Heroes & Memorable Villains talk. We teamed up on a panel we’ve been presenting as a team called SPAAACE! And Why It’s Awesome! That panel is always a lot of fun for us to do, but the A-KON crowd gives us the best energy. In our other panels, Character Development and World Building, we were part of larger groups. Those can be hit or miss, but in both cases we had just the right number of panelists answering questions in just the right amount of time, so things flowed very smoothly. I normally don’t like to be away from my table, but in the case of A-KON I never seem to mind.
Garth will be attending HeroesCon at the end of this month. I will be unable to attend that show, as I will be returning to the stage for the third annual Revenge of the Robot Battle Nuns here in Boston. Be sure to come see us if you can!
