Another attempt at awesome.

This weekend Garth and I will be returning to AwesomeCon.  We exhibited there in 2014 and had a wonderful time.  We didn’t return in 2015 because of scheduling conflicts, but this year we’re free and excited to come back.

Our experience with AwesomeCon was, well, awesome in 2014.  We got to share the show floor with comic shops, established industry legends (I got to meet George Perez!), pop culture celebrities, and a gathering of great attendees.  It’s much different than many of the anime shows we exhibit at, with a crowd skewed to a slightly older age and focused more on books or graphic novels than art or prints.  We hadn’t quite finished STAR POWER & THE NINTH WORMHOLE when we first exhibited at AwesomeCon, so we were flying a bit under the radar.  Now with two stories completed and two books to show off we think it’s going to be a much better year, and many more people will discover Danica’s stellar adventures.

The only downside to this weekend is that, for the first time in nine years, I won’t be able to attend A-KON down in Dallas.  I’ve had the pleasure to go to that show every year since 2007, sometimes as a guest and sometimes as an exhibitor.  The people I met, the panels I spoke on, and the friends that I made have been the stuff of great stories and fond memories for almost a decade.  It’s going to be weird missing that show this year, but 2016 has proven to be a year of changes and explorations.  With any luck we’ll be able to return in 2017.

AwesomeCon will make the third and final show in my three-in-a-row marathon.  It’s been quite an endeavor, but I’m looking forward to taking the rest of June to myself.  Then comes July, when we go two-in-a-row.  No rest for the weary, huh?
