I Guess I’ll Write a Blog Entry About This Freaking Virus.
The title of today’s blog may sound a little flippant or dismissive, but it’s more an expression of my surrender to the flow of history. And if you don’t know what virus I’m talking about, I am envious of your ignorance.
It’s certainly a strange thing to be living through a global pandemic. You read about these in history books or sci-fi novels. You never expect to see one play out in real time, or even make it to your backyard. While no one in my New England town has come down with the virus (to our knowledge), there are still heavy restrictions in place. Every single person I know is affected by this. It’s all anyone can talk about. So I guess I’ll write a blog entry about this freaking virus.
STAR POWER will be largely unaffected by this. We’ve uploaded the next three weeks of pages to auto-update on Mondays and Wednesdays, and our Patreon patrons already have access to those three weeks of finished pages. So long as Garth and I stay smart and follow whatever local restrictions are in place, we’ll be able to provide some measure of distraction from, you know, this global pandemic.
But we’ve already been affected. Our convention schedule has already been cut. Two shows I was scheduled to exhibit at, ConBust and Anime Boston, have been canceled. We have no idea whether AwesomeCon will be happening in May. It’s all touch-and-go right now, but we’ll let folks know as our situation changes. I guess it’s a good thing we haven’t updated our 2020 con schedule yet.
Times are strange. Things are weird. But as strange, scary, or frustrating as things may get, we’ll get through it if we look out for one another. That’s the most we can do when the flow history turns turbulent, and aspects of our daily lives slip out of our control.
