It begins in Ohayo.

This weekend Garth and I will be returning to OHAYOCON for another great year!  Ohayocon has become the official start of our convention season, thanks to our repeated attendance and its scheduled dates in January.  This great show with great spirit has swiftly earned a special place in our hearts, and we hope you can come see us this weekend if you’re in the area.

Ohayocon has treated us very well over the years.  While we’ve never been Guests representing STAR POWER nor officially done any panels (Garth sat in as a panelist with the Spinerrette crew one year), the staff treats us as though we were guests.  The attendees are equally warm and welcoming, giving Ohayocon a character and heart that some shows quickly lose as they expand.  The friendliness of the staff and the fun spirit of those attending make Ohayocon a show we’re glad to have as our annual launch pad for the convention season.

What I like most about Ohayocon’s Artist Alley is their “no fan art” rule.  Their Alley is built around exhibiting original creations, and independent comics have a strong showing there.  It’s a great atmosphere in a convention scene overrun with nameless fan art booths with towering displays of copyrighted characters mashed up with one another.  This is something I feel very strongly about, and to see that Ohayocon is fighting against this trend warms my heart.

Ohayocon is a great time.  We hope to see you this weekend!

Michael Terracciano loves comic books, superheroes, outer space, and telling stories. His friends call him "Mookie." He spent the last ten years as the author and artist of the fantasy webcomic, "Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire." He enjoys spending time with his wife and their three cats.
