Off on an Animazing journey!

Tonight I get on a plane to North Carolina to exhibit at ANIMAZEMENT for the first time.  The show runs Friday through Sunday, but I’ll be getting there a day early to meet up with Garth and get a good night’s rest.  That, and flights were cheaper if I booked one on Thursday.

Garth has been to Animazement for a number of years, but I never had the chance to go myself.  I’d been hearing about this show for years prior, from friends who swore by the show’s friendliness and good atmosphere.  Our schedules just so happened to meet up this year, and I’ll finally see for myself what all the fuss has been about concerning this show.  With luck I’ll return on Sunday with many stories to tell, just like my first time at the first-ever 3 Rivers Comic Con last weekend.

This also marks the second convention in my three-shows-in-a-row stretch.  Truth be told I’m still recovering from 3 Rivers and the massive drive to-and-from that show, so I’m afraid I may be more fatigued this weekend than I care to be.  On the other hand, I’m catching a flight instead of driving for nearly ten hours in one direction, so I won’t have road exhaustion to deal with.  Regardless of how tired I may be, I’m always happy to experience a new show and meet folks in a new city.

The folks I will meet will be vastly different from last weekend, too.  Comic book crowds are very different from anime crowds.  In my experience comic book crowds have been a little more reserved but mature, while anime crowds have unbridled enthusiasm and childlike wonder for new things.  I adore both crowds for different reasons, and it will be interesting to compare them at back-to-back weekends like this.

In any case, I hope to see you at Animazement this weekend!
