Sudden adulthood?

After holding our breath for what seems like forever, my wife and I are finally comfortable announcing that we bought a house.  We didn’t speak much about it because we were afraid of further jinxing an already frustrating process.  The paperwork required for someone self-employed is enough to make you rip your hair out.  But all the paperwork went through, all the proper things were approved by the proper people, and this past weekend we moved in.  Now with the purchase and the move out of the way, we’re free to worry about things like a mortgage, home repair and maintenance, yard work, and… what was that last thing?  Oh right.  We have a baby on the way, too.  When the hell did I become an adult?!

Actually, our mortgage payments aren’t bad, I’m weirdly proud of doing yard work, and our soon-to-be nursery is coming together nicely.  I think I’m becoming less “adult” and more “hobbit.”

Finally, since I warned everyone that I was going to be talking about this pretty steadily:

THE SECOND DOMINIC DEEGAN OMNIBUS IS NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER!

The all-caps and bold announcement was for the benefit of my best friend.  He’s older than me and has trouble seeing things nowadays.  Poor guy.  I think fatherhood is finally wearing on his frail physique.  Tee hee.
