Three Rivers for the second time!

Last year I exhibited at a brand new show called 3 Rivers Comic Con, just outside of Pittsburgh.  It’s a city I’d never visited on my usual convention circuit, and we’re always looking to go new places and meet new people.  I didn’t know what to expect from a first year show, as they can live or die by the strength of their first outing, but I was willing to make the drive and take a chance.  It paid off, and I’m going back this weekend for their second year.

3 Rivers Comic Con was a unique show with a lot of heart and soul in its first year, and I have no doubt their second show is going to be just as successful.  Star Power had a strong showing based solely on blind interest in the books, too!  Very few people, if anyone at all, knew who I was when they came by my little table, but an original sci-fi superhero piqued enough curiosity that enough folks said, “You know what?  I’ll give this book a try!”  I hope they liked what they saw.  This weekend, I’ll find out.

I liked 3 Rivers Comic Con enough to endure the drive again, too.  Driving from the Boston area to the Pittsburgh area is no small feat.  It’s close to ten hours on the road, one way.  I did it alone the first time, and I’ll be making the drive alone this weekend.  Being alone with your thoughts for that span of time gets interesting.  By the ninth hour or so I’m having arguments with myself out loud.  By the tenth hour I feel like I’m going past Jupiter in 2001: A Space Odyssey.  There may be a Starchild behind my table this weekend.

3 Rivers Comic Con was a great experience last year.  Do yourself a favor and give it a try, if you’re in the area.  Say “hi” to me, whether I’m in celestial or human form.
