What else can you say?

So.  American politics.  Holy crap, what a circus.

I don’t think I can take four years of this nonsense.

What circus-like aspect of American politics do I mean?  I wish it were just one thing!  But every day for the past few months it’s been one thing after another after another after another.  It’s a constant stream of… actually, that’s the problem.  It’s constant.  It doesn’t seem to end.  From the politicians themselves to everyone endlessly talking about it on news sites’ opinion pieces, the think-pieces of independent blogs, and the barrage of outrage on social media.  There’s nothing left to say because everyone is saying it, has been saying it, and will continue to voice their opinions until we’re all hoarse from yelling or our eyes are bleeding from internet political rage.

But just because there’s nothing left to say, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing left to do.

Talk is cheap.  I think opinion articles and think-pieces are pretty useless.  Sharing statuses, spamming Retweets, or reblogging hasn’t inspired any major changes that I’ve ever seen.  If you’re as frustrated by the landscape of American politics as I am, the key is to shut up and do something about it.  Get involved in local politics.  Donate money to a cause you believe in.  Stop talking about what you think politicians ought to do.  Get out there and do it yourself, in whatever form you can manage.  Everyone’s involvement is different, but do your best to become the change you want to see.
