On Katsucon.

Garth and I could not have been happier with our time at Katsucon this past weekend.  We’ve both been attending this show for many years and this year was no different despite a few things that were very different.

What wasn’t different was the kindness of the staff and the awesomeness of the attendees.  Since I attended my first Katsucon way back in 2004(!) it’s been one of my favorite stops on my annual convention tour.  The people who came to see us this year continued that tradition of awesomeness.  The staff gave us an unprecedented amount of care (much love and gratitude to Liz, Don, Daniel, and everyone else), and we felt like kings.

What was different was our location.  We were placed in the Dealer’s Room instead of the Artist Alley.  It wasn’t our first time in the Dealer’s Room, but due to scheduling complications (long story) the webcomics guests were all placed on the very far side of this vast room.  Many of us were convinced that we would be forgotten on this far side, but thanks to the aforementioned awesomeness of the attendees we were not only found, but encouraged by how popular our copies of Star Power & The Ninth Wormhole seemed to be!  We’ll be bringing plenty of those to future conventions, and have them up for sale here before long!  (And, of course, we’ll be getting copies out to our Kickstarter backers along with all those cool incentives ASAP.)

I had a blast.  I hope we get to go back next year.  But now I’m back home with my wife and son, digging our way out of this New England snowfall, and getting ready for what is certain to be another memorable weekend full of one thousand pasties.
