Unpopular and trivial.

Here are some unpopular opinions I have about some very trivial things:

I think “Superman Returns” is an enjoyable movie, and Brandon Routh’s performance as Superman is underrated and underappreciated.

While not their best efforts, Metallica’s “Load” and “ReLoad” are not the terrible albums that many hardcore fans claim they are.  I’ve loved Metallica for a long time but I don’t like everything they’ve done (St. Anger), so I feel like I speak with some objectivity when I say that Load and ReLoad have some good songs despite the obvious change of the band’s sound during that time.

I think the Marvel movies are overrated.  I enjoy them very much when I get around to seeing them, but I don’t find them to be the end-all-be-all of superhero movies.  The casting choices have been top-notch and there’s a lot of on-screen chemistry, but I don’t find the plots very special.  (As for the DC films, let’s not speak of my unhealthy and unbridled hatred of “Man of Steel.”)

The Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 is, in my opinion, the best video game movie ever made.  It’s also my favorite guilty pleasure movie.

So there are some unpopular opinions about trivial things.  They’ve been banging around in my head for a while, eager to get out, but none of these subjects warranted an entire blog post.  Actually, I could talk about my ridiculous love for the ridiculous Mortal Kombat movie for quite some time… but anyway, I wanted to keep things light and trivial because much of 2016 has been heavy and depressing for many people, and sometimes here in the blog section I feel like I must provide a…

…okay, real quick, that scene in Mortal Kombat where Liu Kang has to fight that oh-so-terrible CGI version of Reptile, but he throws it into that weird worm-filled statue but then the statue comes to life and OH NO IT’S FREAKING NINJA REPTILE and that awesome music kicks in and…!

Screw it.  One more unpopular opinion about a trivial thing:

Reptile is the best Mortal Kombat character.
