Summer vacation!

Garth will be taking a summer break after the completion of this Issue and storyline.  He absolutely deserves it.  He works like a madman on Star Power, as he’s responsible for the penciling, inking coloring, lettering, and layout of every single page.  He realizes he could delegate one or more of those responsibilities to someone else, but he’s as crazy a control freak about his work as I am.  It’s amazing we collaborate as well as we do.  The man has earned a non-injury-related break, and so he’s taking one.  I mentioned that this will only marginally affect the comic’s update schedule, but I didn’t have exact details.  Now I have details.

Garth said he needs a more extended break than I had anticipated in a previous blog post.  Given the crazy amount of work he does, he absolutely deserves it, but I became anxious about a between-Issue break lasting longer than three weeks.  I began to try concocting ways to fill in the extra downtime (calls for Observations/fan art, maybe doing a short story drawn by me), but then I realized that there wouldn’t be any extra downtime!

Normally our between-Issue breaks contain “filler” of various sorts: fan art, galaxy-building lore, and so on.  But the between-Issue breaks for our next storyline won’t be filler!  It’s going to be part of the story itself!  While it may not look like our usual comic pages, it will tie in to the narrative and contain important story elements.  They’ll be akin to the news articles between chapters in Watchmen, only less wordy.  Much less wordy.  So we’ll be taking a break that lasts for the traditional two weeks between Issues, but at the end of those two weeks there will be filler-that-isn’t-filler beginning to post.  It will provide Garth his much-needed break and the story will resume on time.

I’m speaking vaguely about all this because I don’t want to give anything away.  We are very excited about our next storyline and want to give you awesome folks as many surprises as we can!  We hope you enjoy this story’s conclusion, your own summer vacation, and what we have in store for you.
