Stretching from here to Texas!

We’re going to take a brief break from talking about the Kickstarter campaign to turn STAR POWER & THE SEARCH FOR BLACK HOLE BILL into a book.  But not very brief, because oh my god we hit our third stretch goal holy babylony this is amazing and we’re so grateful for your support and wow this means we’re going to fund a brand new website for streamlined reading and the book is going to look so good and we have the best readers in the galaxy and I should put some punctuation in this sentence before I give my English teacher a heart attack!  Whew!

Anyway, Garth and I will be heading down to Austin, TX this weekend for THE WEBCOMICS RAMPAGE at Dragon’s Lair Comics!  This is our first time being invited to this gathering and we’re very excited to be a part of it.  This invitation hits a more personal note for me, as I have a fond albeit brief history with Dragon’s Lair Comics.

I lived down in San Antonio, TX for about nine months, from fall 2006 to late spring 2007.  For various reasons, I was mostly unhappy with very few (if any) friends and little creative support.  My one beacon of light was Dragon’s Lair Comics, which I later learned was their second location outside of Austin.  I looked forward to every single Wednesday because that’s when new comics hit the shelves, and I would drive down the various Texas highways to the one place where I felt like I was a geek at home again.  Besides the abundance of comics, board games, roleplaying games, and other nerd treasures, there was always a friendly atmosphere that I sorely needed during that time in my life.

So to finally be able to return to Dragon’s Lair and see their other location for the first time is kinda-sorta like a reunion for me.  True, it’s a different store in a different city almost ten years later, but I’ll take what reunions I can get these days.  We hope to see you there!
